Welcome to Gympie South State School

Principal Doug Wilson and Gympie South State School extends a warm welcome to staff, students, parents and the wider community. We are located 2 kilometre from the city centre, close to doctors, shopping centres and child care centres. The school is over 100 years old, having been established in 1910.

We have approximately 500 students enrolled from prep to year 6. Gympie South State School has a broad academic program with an emphasis on literacy and numeracy. We have a proud history of excellence in our extra-curricular activities including but not limited to chess, sport and music.

The school has adopted the 'You Can Do It' program as a means of developing the important foundation attributes of organisation, persistence, confidence, getting along, and resilience. This program plays an important role in daily life at the school.

Our staff have the skills, capacity and flexibility to deliver a high quality education to our students.
